  • LinkedIn Wissame Essabri
  • Wissame is an Agronomy and Food Security Engineer at Leyton working as a Technical R&D Consultant on several innovative projects undertaken by leading food-industry stakeholders. Leyton is Europe’s largest innovation funding specialist helping innovative organisations improve their global performance through government funding initiatives.

Wissame’s passion for the food industry started when she received her technology based University degree in Biology and Agro-food. She then decided to pursue her studies in the agro-food industry through an engineering program. Afterwards, she got received her Master’s degree in a R&D course specialising on “from the design to industrialisation of food products”.

She has also worked on several innovative R&D projects including the development of a new product for the French market based on a traditional oriental recipe, and the study of the anti-microbial and antifungal effects of lavender essential oil.

Wissame believes that agro-industries are making life a lot easier for the people who believe making a meal is impossible due to stress or lack of time. Nevertheless, she thinks that not all the products on the market should be consumed, largely as a result of the amount of additives included in the ingredients list. Therefore, her conviction and interest in food security, nutrition and formulation of new products is driven by the idea of using modern agro-technological techniques with the aim of improving the nutritional and sensory quality of foods.

This was the reason why she decided to write an article about clean label, and participate in the Webinar.
